WHO ARE WE? Our Journey, Our Promise

Opportunities Industrialization Centre, Cameroon is an affiliate of OIC International with headquarters in Philadelphia, USA. Established in 1986 as a non-profit community-based project with the following fundamental objectives:

  • To equip underprivileged youths all over the national territory with marketable skills to become self-reliant and independent
  • To provide technical manpower to the community and industries in Cameroon and beyond with well-trained basic professionals in different vocations
  • To assist GoC, organizations, communities and families in their efforts to reduce unemployment and alleviate poverty by recycling and training school leavers and drop-outs in diverse vocations to be absorbed into the public/ private sector or to be self-employed.

Cameroon Opportunities Industrialization Centre (COIC) Buea has been a beacon of hope for the less privileged and many in our community, offering non-formal skill drills to empower individuals through vocational training and employment opportunities. COIC has to its praise numbers beyond 29,500 individuals trained onsite or outreached, with 30% job placed and 35% self-employed impacting over 192,000 families directly or indirectly. Undoubtedly, COIC has made significant strides since creation in various sectors. It has gradually added novel trades: Hotel Catering & Tourism; Metal fabrication, welding & Spray-painting; Woodwork; Building Construction, Plumbing & Electricity; Auto mechanics & Motor electricity; Computer Information Technology; Driving; Textile & Fashion Design; and Agriculture. Many believe COIC has performed far less than its potentials and possibilities for various reasons.
